Philadelphia, PA – Byrd Cancer Foundation, in partnership with the Patient Advocate Foundation, proudly presents IGNITE: Amplifying the Black Breast Cancer Experience, a powerful and inclusive event that brings the untold stories of Black breast cancer survivors to the forefront. Taking place on Saturday, June 14, 2025, at the elegant W Philadelphia, this all-ages event promises an afternoon of truth-telling, connection, and collective strength.
“And Still, They Rise: Honoring the Voices of Breast Cancer Survivors” is the central theme of the day, featuring two compelling documentary screenings that highlight the lived experiences of Black women navigating breast cancer. These films capture raw, authentic narratives of diagnosis, treatment, and survivorship—stories too often left unheard.
Following the screenings, guests will engage in an impactful panel discussion with the courageous survivors featured in the films, joined by a leading oncologist, who will offer medical insight and guidance. This dynamic conversation aims to deepen understanding, spark healing, and elevate the voices of those most affected by the disease.
“This event is not just about survival—it’s about sisterhood, visibility, and empowerment,” says Trudean Haye, Executive Director of Byrd Cancer Foundation. “We’re creating space for real conversations that reflect the medical, emotional, spiritual, and social realities Black women face in their cancer journey.”
What attendees can expect:
Documentary Screenings featuring six powerful survivor stories
Live Panel Discussion with survivors and a medical expert
Open Dialogue welcoming questions and shared experiences
Resources and Support for survivors, caregivers, and advocates
Whether you’re a survivor, a caregiver, a healthcare professional, or simply an ally to the cause, this event invites the community to come together in compassion, education, and strength. Together, we rise.
