A graduate of The Philadelphia College of Art with a BFA in Illustration, Alvin’s commitment to the arts extends beyond his impressive corporate career.
Retiring after 27 years at Verizon Corporation in Philadelphia, Alvin served as an Operator/Service Assistant/Manager Trainer, specializing in LiveScore/Large Business. His expertise in voice inflection, tonality, and customer service for Directory service calls across the Verizon 12 state area reflects his dedication to effective communication.
Beyond his corporate success, Alvin played a crucial role in Philadelphia’s arts community as the President/CEO of Artistic Awareness LLC. Through this collaborative platform, he created opportunities for artists to share their work and ideas with the community at minimal cost.
As an Artistic Set Designer for The Avante Theatre Company, Alvin contributed to impactful performances, transforming the stage for “Best of Black Broadway” shows at the Philadelphia Academy of Music. His innovative designs facilitated dynamic renditions of classics like Porgy & Bess and Ain’t Misbehavin’.
Alvin’s artistic influence also extended to mural designs during the early years of the Philadelphia Mural Arts Project. While some may no longer exist, his murals, including one at the People’s Emergency Center, made a lasting impact on the city’s artistic landscape.
Dedicated to sharing his knowledge, Alvin taught drawing to advanced senior summer art students at the Philadelphia Summer Art’s Camp. Over a decade, he nurtured young artists, contributing significantly to their artistic development.
